Chris Patrick said in a statement to PA Media: “He went to the carnival with his younger sister and friends to have a good time. This is the worst possible end for a talented child.” He wrote on Instagram: “2 years ago a young 19 year old came from Bristol to meet me in my studio with his dad, called Takayo Nembhard AKA TKorStretch. “This meeting took us on a journey… we recorded some great music together. His talent was endless and I can tell you he was close to greatness! “Well, it is with a heavy heart that I bring the news that Takayo (TKorStretch) passed away last night. He came all the way from Bristol to just have a good time at the London carnival and this is the end result. They managed to get him through significant crowds in difficult conditions to a waiting ambulance. “He was taken to a west London hospital where, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he was pronounced dead. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.” The force said “a number of violent incidents and serious stabbings” had led to a section 60 order being put in place until 1am on Tuesday within the boundaries of the event. Section 60 allows the police to stop and search people without suspicion of illegality. Police said 209 arrests had been made by early Tuesday, including 46 for assault, 36 for drug possession, 33 for possession of an offensive weapon, 27 public order offenses and eight sexual assaults. The force made 35 arrests labeled “other”: 10 for possession of psychotropic substances, seven for drink/drug driving, five for criminal damage and one for theft and robbery.
