Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hit out at owners Bournemouth after Scott Parker was sacked, feeling the former midfielder was “set up” for failure following a lack of transfer activity. The Reds hammered the Cherries 9-0 at Anfield on Saturday in what turned out to be Parker’s final game in charge after being relieved of his duties on Tuesday morning. The German manager called the decision to sack the 41-year-old “unbelievable” and repeated his comments after their huge win at the weekend that Parker was an “excellent” manager. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hit out at owners Bournemouth after Scott Parker was sacked. Klopp said Parker’s sacking showed the importance of having the right owners at a club He also appeared to target Manchester City and Newcastle as “country owned” clubs. He then appeared to take issue with Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle as “cottage property” clubs – who have made big-name signings again this summer – insisting they are “set up for a new manager if you have nervous owners”. “When I heard [the Scott Parker news] Today I realized how important it is right now to have the right owners in the football club,” said Klopp. Some clubs are owned by countries, but others are structured like us and maybe Arsenal. “Then three teams went up, Nottingham [Forest] they spend, Fulham are and I don’t remember Bournemouth doing much, which is difficult for a manager. I felt for Scott. Chelsea have also spent big this summer, having signed Raheem Sterling The German appeared to oppose these models in the ‘structure’ at Liverpool and Arsenal “In the first 4 games they had Arsenal, City and Liverpool – it’s set up for a new manager if you have nervous owners. I think Scott is an excellent coach.’ Parker had expressed his disappointment at Bournemouth’s activity in the transfer market this summer – despite signing five players – insisting his young squad are not “inadequate” to meet the challenges of the Premier League after winning promotion last season season. Meanwhile, Liverpool have made just three additions this summer, including £85million striker Darwin Nunez along with youngsters Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay. There have also been calls for Liverpool to sign a midfielder before Thursday’s deadline amid the injury crisis, with Klopp admitting they are still in the market to sign one. Liverpool have signed three players so far this summer, including striker Darwin Nunez But when asked if he felt supported by Liverpool’s owners FSG, Klopp replied: “Let me put it this way, from time to time, I would like to take a bit more risk. [in the market] but I don’t decide that. “We have a great squad and we will really try to get everything out of this season. “I don’t pay attention, they tell us what is possible and what is not. This is. In this range we try to work it. “There is no criticism, we became champions in a season where we didn’t sign anyone. We also have an existing team. All the players we have here want to be here. “I want to develop the club, the team and be successful.” Klopp said he wants to take a little more risk in the transfer market when asked about FSG’s owners
