Florida Dad Jermaine Bass Fatally Shoots Daughter Injures Son Cops

An emotional Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said their mother had been out to dinner and arrived home to give her children – who were in their bunks – a kiss goodnight. After doing so, the woman went into the bathroom and suddenly heard gunshots, Chronister said. Assuming the shots came from outside her home, the woman ran outside and met a neighbor who had already called 911. The mother then got on the phone to describe what she heard as her husband, Jermaine Bass, came out of the house carrying the 8-year-old boy and telling her to call for help. Deputies rushed to the scene and found the father in the living room still holding the injured boy. Bass repeatedly told them he accidentally shot his son, Chronister said. As they prepared to transport the injured child to Tampa General Hospital, deputies asked him if anyone else was home.
