A man was electrocuted in a hot tub at a Canmore rental property Monday night, the local fire chief confirmed.

Canmore Fire Chief Lance Bushie said crews were called to a rental property around 9:30 p.m. Monday night after reports a man may have been electrocuted while in an outdoor hot tub. He said crews were able to force their way into a utility room and find the right switch for the hot tub.

“The crew immediately started CPR,” Bushie said. “Unfortunately, by the time they got to the hospital, the man had died.” Bushie said the property has a series of rental units with a shared courtyard where the outdoor hot tub is located. RCMP released a statement Tuesday night confirming they were called to the scene on Kananaskis Street regarding reports of a possible electrocution. Police said the man was a 25-year-old Saskatchewan resident. The RCMP investigation is ongoing. [email protected]
