OPP officers responded to a crash on the 401 Freeway at Mavis Street where a vehicle crashed into the back of a truck.
Police said the truck was stopped in traffic before the vehicle crashed into it at a high rate of speed.
The 40-year-old male driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital with serious injuries, the OPP said.
His vehicle sustained significant damage from the collision and debris was seen strewn across the highway.
The truck driver was not injured.
The cause of the collision is unknown.
