Ch Supt John Murphy said: “We are determined to find the cause of the explosion. “While some laboratory tests remain to be completed, the very clear indication from everything we have discovered is that this was a deliberate criminal act of arson, targeting a specific apartment. “Our investigation determined that entry was likely to have been forced into this apartment, after which several areas were submerged in flammable liquid. “The steam from this accelerator became so great that, when ignited, it caused an explosion followed by a fire that engulfed the building.” He added: “Forensic evidence, combined with other inquiries, lead us to believe that Reena James, who lived elsewhere in the block, was solely responsible. “Therefore, we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this crime.” He also thanked residents for their support and patience during the investigation.
